27393 Days... what are you doing with them?
by Elsewhere ini did some simple math realized that if a person lives 75 years they only get 27,393 days.
not very many days when you stop and think about it.. i've already burned through more than 11,322 days... almost half.
what are you doing with your 27 thousand days?

Rainbow (er, um...laylaluv ;)) welcome to JWD! :)
by onacruse inhttp://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/60267/908385/post.ashx#908385 i have resolved in my heart and mind to be who i am.
i know with this decision that my family will continue to shun me.
however, i am much happier with myself to be who i am than to be something fake.

Is becoming an XJW like growing up?
by ballistic indid your process of leaving the organisation and learning new stuff feel like growing up to you?
looking back at your time in the so called "truth", do you think you were misled or even "naive"?
even "innocent"?

((Ballistic )) I was in my early 20's with two little children when I started to go (nearly said 'attend' lol ) meetings-so I had done a bit of growing up by then...
but that was around the time I started to feel really ambitious as regards a career.
The witnesss managed to persuade me that a career and being ambitious was'nt putting faith in J and all his promises- and that I could fulfill all my desires after Armageddon so I dutifly let my intention to go back to college and the desire to start the other business slide, as you know.
So, after leaving ; I have started college again and am also doing the property renovations. It's taken me a long time not to feel guilty for wanting to do all these things.I think the witnesses manage to persuade you that making money and godliness cannot go together without sacrificing your relationship with Jehovah.
So I guess a certain amount of my growing up has been within the last 2 years.
I have also had to learn that I can't coast in life on the coat tails of a religion; and if I want things to happen I have to make them haooen. At least now I feel I am 'allowed' to.
The life within the organisation reminds me of a domestic cats' behaviour.
.They look adult, they are, technically adult; but they behave like kittens for the rest of their life, because they have been conditioned never to grow up.
They have to 'ask' for food and because they are never 'pushed out' of the group to learn to become adult they stay dependant on their mother figure.
It's quite unnerving, looking from the outside in; to see 'adults' 'asking' whether or not they should take a certain path and listening to the elders recomendations, even if their advice is obviously flawed.
So yes, I think it's a growing up process-it's like the teenage years all over again- testing the boundaries- trying to work out what you want; and having the courage to follow your decisions.

What are YOUR Dreams Like?
by MrMoe inmy dreams are not just like "dreams.
" they are like memories to me, and my mind can create something when i sleep with the most vivid colors, feelings, sounds, cold or damp or wet or smothering heat.
it all seems so real to me.

Wow, Mr Moe; this thread made me realise that I hav'nt actually remembered a dream for months...
I used to dream lucidly usually involving flying-but I know that is a representation of happiness and complete satisfaction with your life-and that was only when I had my horse.
I think my dream states are directly linked to my happiness levels; but when I do gt them they are very colourful, extravagant dreams that mean I can manouver the plot and actions to suit me.Which was great fun-fingers' crossed they'll come back soon..

I got the job
by berylblue inthanks so much to everyone for their support over the past weeks.. .
tim interviewed me every night this past week in order to get me ready.
it was grueling and i was in tears (not due to any pressure from him, but because of my own inadequacies); i've relied in the past on my personal warmth and integrity to get jobs but really needed to learn how to answer difficult questions.

((((berylblue)))) thats great news - and made even more special by the fact that you got it because of the kind of person you are...

Hit Me With Some Snappy Comebacks Puleeeeeeeeze!!
by HadEnuf inokay...so i'm invited to a baby shower for my daughter-in-law which will most likely be attended by myriads upon myriads of jw's.
i won't go into the nasty details...but they've been married four years now and have another little daughter...their wedding was boycotted by most jw's because she was not baptized yet (but grew up a jw)...and my son was.
so every since the wedding fiasco...they have been pretty much shunned by the jw's...and attend meetings infrequently.
